Several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a doll maker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the doll maker's possessed creation—Annabelle.
While the movie follows the standard formula for modern horror films with predictable jump scares and clichéd characters, it still manages to deliver an effective and decently creepy experience. The tie-ins to other horror movies in the Blum House universe add an interesting dimension, but ultimately, it's a familiar ride with few surprises.
